Expected increase of renewables capacity in Ukraine in 201930/09/2019

Ukraine expected to increase renewables capacity by more than two-and-a-half times in 2019

Ukraine is on track to boost electricity capacity from renewables by more than two-and-a-half times by the end of the current year as the country’s alternative energy boom continues to gain momentum.

According to figures released in September by the National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation, capacity should total 5.473 GW by 31 December, which is 2.6 times more than the figure reached at the end of 2018.

The biggest gains in 2019 have come in the solar sector, which has witnessed threefold growth, while the collective capacity of Ukraine’s wind farms has doubled.
